LOVE,

IT’S MORE THEN

JUST A “FOUR” LETTER WORD!

The word "love" has to be one of the most unusual and at times confusing and inadequate words in our English language!  It is supposedly packed with meaning, yet it seems inadequate when we really want to say something meaningful. Some dictionaries list as many as twenty-five meanings for the word ‘love’ and we're apt to use them all in our every day conversation.
One of the most often quoted scripture readings in a marriage ceremony is St. Paul’s First letter to the Corinthians: “Love is kind . . . “ (1 Corinthians, Chapter 13). St. Paul’s description of love applies not only to the relationship between a husband and wife, but also to all relationships whether it is with our children, our neighbor, our families and friends, and maybe most difficult when we are asked by Jesus to “love our enemies” (Matthew 5:44)

So, what really is “love?”
1. Love is PATIENT.

2. Love is KIND.

3. Love is TRUSTING

4. Love is HUMBLE.

5. Love is POLITE.

6. Love is GENEROUS.

7. Love is SHARING.

8. Love is CONSIDERATE.

9. Love is TOLERANT.

10. Love is FORGIVING.

11. Love is COURAGEOUS.

12. Love is HOPEFUL.

13. Love is PERSISTENT.

14. Love REJOICES.

15. Love SACRIFICES.

16. Love BELIEVES.

17. Love ENDURES .

HOW IS LOVE SUSTAINED IN MARRIAGE?

One way to sustain the love we have – and want – in our marriage would be to listen to the words from the song “Something That We Do.” sung by country singer  Clint Black celebrating 21 years of married love with his actress wife Lisa Hartman.

“The way we work together
is what sets our love apart,
so closely that you can't tell,
where I end and where you start.

We're on a road that has no end,
And each day we begin again,
Love's not just something that we're in,
It's something that we do.

There's no request too big or small,
we give ourselves, we give our all,
Love isn't someplace that we fall.
It's something that we do. *

REMEMBER IT’S ALWAYS THE ‘LITTLE’ THINGS THAT COUNT!

People who are successful in whatever they do reach their objectives by a series of the “little things” they do every day. If you do the "little things" on a daily basis, they will make "big" difference in your relationship with your spouse. It is the “little things” that make a marriage strong, happy, and meaningful.

Begin today to:
SPOIL each other.
Express APPRECIATION.
Know when to APOLOGIZE.
Take TIME out.
Know that GIFTS do matter.
CELEBRATE the good times

"Love is certain, love is kind
Love is yours and love is mine
But it isn't something that we find
It's something that we do." *

* Lyrics from “Something That We Do.” By Clint Black

Congratulations to Andrew and Adrienne who have joined their lives together this day (June 9th) in the sacrament of marriage.  May they always be aware of God’s love and blessings for them, and may their love for each other continue to grow and deepen every day of their lives.
